CONTINUITY OF SERVICES IN KINDERGARTEN

I am the prime sponsor of this bill, which comes from the Early Childhood & School Readiness Commission. It is being sponsored by Rep. Benefield in the House. The bill seeks to use federal grant money to pay for the continuation of high-quality services in kindergarten to at-risk children who had been receiving them in Head Start or the Colorado Preschool Program.  I had to ask the Senate Appropriations Committee to postpone the bill indefinitely (i.e., kill the bill), because I was informed that the Early Childhood Challenge Grant I was hoping would pay for it is only for programs prior to kindergarten.
