REPORTING OF CHILD ABUSE OR NEGLECT

I am the prime sponsor for this bill. Rep. Levy is sponsoring it in the House. The bill comes at the request of the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault. It allows counselors or hotlines to keep confidential child abuse or neglect that is reported by an adult if it happened when he or she was a child. 

The bill was amended in the Senate Judiciary Committee to ensure that the abuse or neglect would still have to be reported if there was reasonable cause to believe that other children were in danger.  The bill passed the Senate unanimously.
