RECEIPT OF TAX PAYMENT BY COUNTY TREASURER

I am the Senate sponsor of this House bill by Rep. Tyler. The bill establishes the recorded date of receipt of property tax payments when there is no postmark.  It sets the recorded date as the date of the deadline, as long as the payment is received within 5 days after the deadline. The bill passed the House and Senate unanimously.  The Senate added an amendment specifying that the payments must be received by the County Treasurer through mail or a carrier service; this is to prevent people from hand-carrying a payment 5 days late.  The bill was signed into law on March 5, 2010.
