REMINDER OF TOWN HALL MEETING & SPECIAL NOTE

Don’t forget to attend my Town Hall Meeting tomorrow, Saturday, September 26, 10:30
a.m. – 12 noon, at the Standley Lake Library (8485 Kipling Street in Arvada)! The topic is
Education. I’m sure you know that my deepest passion is ensuring that all Coloradans have
access to quality education.

PLEASE NOTE: The president of the Colorado Association of Libraries (CAL) will be making
a special presentation at the meeting tomorrow. I will be honored for my work supporting
Colorado libraries during this past legislative session and especially for being the Senate sponsor
of the 2009 Library Law (HB-1072).

The other presentations at the meeting will be as follows:

  • TELL Survey – Kerrie Dallman, president of the Jefferson County Education Association, will discuss the results of the survey of the Teaching, Empowering, Leading, and Learning Initiative, which will inform us about how teachers and administrators view what’s going on in our schools.
  • New Accountability System – I will explain how the “landmark” education bill that I sponsored, SB 163, changes the way we use CSAP to hold schools accountable.
  • SchoolView – I will show how the Colorado Department of Education is presenting
student growth and achievement information on its website to inform the public about
how our schools and school districts are performing.
  • Please join me to discuss these education topics and any others you are interested in.
